Jeep Soft Top Care

Whether you are on a muddy trail or on a highway, the top of your Jeep is vulnerable to dust, bird droppings, and sunlight.

In the long run, the sun will be one of your worst enemies. If possible, store your Jeep in a garage or a cool place to avoid long-term UV damage. Try not to park the car under the tree. Otherwise, resin and bird droppings will become the main problem of your soft top. Winter or ocean air is also a problem for your soft roof.

You should consider replacing the hardtop in the colder months to make it easier to remove salt and dirt.

Depending on the situation, we recommend cleaning your car roof once a month or at least once every 2-3 months.

The Jeep soft top should be cleaned with a vinyl protective agent. Remember to follow the instructions in your user manual.

Usually, you only need a soft cloth to remove dirt and soil. However, if your top becomes very dirty, a fabric will not have this cleaning ability. Think twice before using a hard brush: The hard brush may damage the glass material of the window, causing severe scratches or even damage.

On the contrary, use a soft-bristled brush with detergent to scrub away the dirt. After finishing the initial cleaning, rinse the roof and all windows with clean water to remove the residual cleaning fluid on the soft roof material.

How To Clean Jeep Soft Top Fabric

1, Rinse Off Your Soft Top

Flush the entire soft top cover with hose and water. Be sure to soak the fabric thoroughly so that you can loosen the fabric and remove as much dirt and stickiness as possible.

Spray car shampoo or car fabric cleaner on the soft top, and then rub it with a cleaning brush. After washing, rinse off the shampoo with clean water. To get the dust out of the seams and corners, you need to dab these areas with the end of the brush.

For most jeeps, thorough cleaning takes about 20 minutes. You can buy car fabric cleaners and car shampoos at  Amazon or auto supply stores.

Stubborn bird droppings, mud, or green mold may stain the top fabric of your Jeep. To remove these patches, you need to wash these areas with shampoo, and then gently scrub with a stiff brush. This will cause the stain to produce a paste-like substance, but you can wash it off with water. Pay attention to the strength of the brush to avoid damage to the roof fabric.
